Fáilte a chur roimh dhuine I.I.I.I.
The Irish Immigrant Integration Initiative (I.I.I.I.) welcomes newcomers to Montreal from the island of Ireland, whether hailing from the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland. We aim to assist the most recent arrivals and those who have come in the last year or two in their efforts to seek out and find employment, settle in and accustom themselves to our Montreal lifestyles and cultures, and to make contacts with the existing Irish community in the city. Although our major focus is on the Montreal area, we also aim to help persons settling elsewhere in the province of Quebec, or the rest of Canada.
Montreal is a world-class city with leading commercial enterprises such as in the aeronautical, information technology, medical and pharmaceutical sectors. We have four universities, and very rich cultural life, including classical, jazz and new music, theatre and fine art.
We believe Montreal has Canada’s greatest Irish heritage and we are proud to boast over 30 active Irish organizations, including this one. With a little help and encouragement, newcomers and recent arrivals from all of Ireland may be made to feel right at home in their new city.
The I.I.I.I. is itself a community initiative of the St. Patrick’s Society of Montreal. The Society is the oldest existing Irish organization in Canada, having been founded in Montreal in 1834. Its website is www.spsmtl.com.
We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the St. Patrick’s Society as well as of the Government of Ireland.
We are always looking for new ideas and support, whether you are a new arrival or Irish-Canadian, a worker, professional, student or employer.
With best wishes from your I.I.I.I. Committee,
Paul Dunne, Chair (Immediate Past President of St. Patrick’s Society of Montreal)
Stephen Fogarty (Honorary Legal Advisor to the Embassy of Ireland in Canada)
Jim Killin (Ex Officio, President of St. Patrick's Society of Montreal)
